Dressed for Success

Shirts—A long or short sleeve white, royal or navy blue, black, or yellow plain polo styled collared shirt may be worn. The shirt must be solid in color. The shirt must fit properly (not oversized, but also not skin tight). Shirt bottoms must be tucked in at all times for students in grades 4-8. A long sleeve shirt may be worn under a short sleeve shirt but must be of appropriate color. Sweaters may be worn following the designated colors. SMS sweatshirts may be worn in the classrooms.

Pants—Navy blue, black, or khaki pants may be worn. For students in grades 4-8, a belt must be worn. Belts are not required for Kindergarten -3rd grade but are encouraged. Cargo and/or carpenter pants and jeans are not allowed. Shorts, skorts, skirts (shorts must be worn underneath) are allowed but must be knee length or no more than 2″ above the knee.

Outer wear—SMS hoodies and sweatshirts may be worn. Coats, jackets, hats, gloves must be sent with all students in cold weather as the students will be going outside for recess. Camouflage color is not allowed.

Shoes—Shoes must be neat in appearance, suitable and safe for all-around school activities. Shoes must be closed toe with soft soles. All shoes must be worn with socks. Sandals, jellies, clogs, slide shoes, crocs, and flip flops are not allowed. Boots may be worn but have flat heels. Cowboy boots will not be allowed. Tennis shoes must be worn on PE days.

Jewelry—Necklaces must be of religious nature. Large hoop earrings (over 1″) are not acceptable for safety reasons. Watches and rings are acceptable.

Hairstyles—Must be kept simple. Boys must keep their hair trimmed, clean and neat in appearance. No facial hair is allowed. Girls must keep their hair clean, neat looking and out of their face and eyes. No body piercing except for ears.

There are to be no insignias on the shirt.  (No brand names, no writing, just plain) The shirt must fit properly (not oversized, but also not skin tight).  Shirt bottoms must be tucked in at all times for students in grades 4-8. A long sleeve shirt may be worn under a short sleeve shirt but must be of appropriate color.
